Brown Rice to prevent Alzheimer’s Disease

Brown rice is an excellent diet that helps in energy production, healing functions and fiber supply to the gastro vascular system. It is so very important for the human body to maintain a constant internal environment resulting from a good nutritious diet.

Research study on Brown Rice

In one of the research studies by the Japanese cosmetic manufacturer FANCL, it was found that there is an effective action of the pre-germinated brown rice that helps in curing and preventing Alzheimer's disease. This study was carried out in collaboration with Professor Makoto Ukai. They inferred from the results of the research that a consistent and timely intake of brown rice prevents the learning deficiency as well as memory loss caused by a protein, known as the beta-amyloidal protein. This protein is found to be one of the major factors that cause the Alzheimer's memory loss.

According to FANCL, a Japanese cosmetic manufacturer, their research group in collaboration with Makoto Ukai, a Professor from Meijo University was able to discover the efficacy of pre-germinated brown rice against Alzheimer's disease. Based on their experiments on animals, they have confirmed that there is a possibility that a continuous intake of brown rice effectively inhibits learning and memory deficits induced by beta-amyloidal protein. Beta-amyloidal protein is considered as one of the factors to cause Alzheimer's dementia.

Findings on Brown Rice nutritious value

Another factor that helps in prevention of Alzheimer's is that Pre-germinated brown rice, which is rich in high levels of a special nutrient called GABA. This helps improve spatial learning processes when tested and experimented on mice. This resulted in findings carried out by FANCL. They suggested that brown rice can be very helpful to prevent Alzheimer which is a rapidly increasing disease in the world, now a day.

The disease is caused by a number of senile plaques that result in memory loss. Beta-amylois peptide chains which constitute these plaques result in dysfunction of the mice brain, which stimulates memory and learning mutilation in rodent mammals.

In a study it was found that brown rice that has been soaked in water for some time results in germination of the grain and contains about 13 times more oryzanol and 15 times greater quantity of gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA). Both of these chemicals resulted in better memory and prohibited the loss of impulsive alternation activities and attitudes in animals. GABA is also an inhibitory neurotransmitter that helps to improve the sleeping prototypes in rodents.

According to present statistics, nearly eighteen million people are living with dementia and its most recurrent cause is Alzheimer. If we improve our diet patterns we can reduce the risk to a great extent.
